March for Equity

It is no secret that I believe in equity, social justice and acceptance of all people. I have spent the last 6 years of my life educating myself on issues of social justice, primarily within the GLBT community, and yet I can barely explain this to my parents. My dream job right now is to help run a GLBT center for students and community members seeking to find a home or place of their own and yet I am fearful to tell my parents this as I fear what their thoughts and judgments will be.

I will be hard-pressed to find a profession/position that will motivate me more right now than to bring change to this world and to the community I currently live in.

These pictures are from the National Equality March I participated in on October 11, 2009. This event was probably the most breathtaking, surreal, fulfilling moment of my life and one I cherish always. Here’s to change, advocacy, love and social justice.
